REP TEAM TRY OUTS

Rep try outs: Sat. Sept. 11 and Sun. Sept 12.

Atom 10:15am -11:45am,

Peewee 3:15pm-4:45pm,

Bantam 5:00pm-6:15pm.

Same schedule for both days.

To be eligible for Rep hockey attendance at the try outs are mandatory. Consideration will be given to injured players. Please contact coaching coordinator Bob Andrea by email at bobandrea@hotmail.ca if you have any questions. Team selections will be posted by 8:30pm Sunday night.

Rep Team try-outs will be held the weekend of the 11th and 12th of September. Players will be skating both days. Times for the try-outs will be determined by September 9th. Please check back for times.

COACHING DAY BC-NOV 22-GM PLACE

Registration for Coaching Day in BC is now up! This year’s free event is to take place on November 22, 2009 at General Motors Place. Last year’s event saw over 200 coaches from around BC participate in excellent seminars and practice drills put on by NHL and amateur coaches. Sponsored by Tim Horton’s, Coaching Day in BC provides minor hockey coaches with an incomparable educational experience.

This year’s schedule includes; welcoming and opening remarks, on-ice and off-ice instruction, goaltending techniques, watching an interactive Vancouver Canucks and Chicago Blackhawks practice and closing remarks. Vancouver Canucks head coach, Alain Vigneault, associate coach Rick Bowness and assistant coaches Ryan Walter and Darryl Williams will be leading the Canucks game day skate.

This is a great opportunity for all BC minor hockey coaches to fully maximize their coaching potential. This one day FREE event is open to coaches of all levels and all ages.

Be one of the first 300 coaches to RSVP and you will receive a free pearl whistle and coaching day instruction manual! All participants who RSVP by Monday November 16th are also entered to win the Grand Prize of four tickets to the General Manager’s box on November 28th vs. San Jose. REFEREE CLINIC IN WHISTLER!

Level 1& 2 Officiating Clinic in Whistler

Saturday October 25, 2009 9am-5pm – $87.50

Level I

To prepare a young or new official to officiate minor hockey
An individual is certified at Level I with attendance and completion of a Level I clinic – eight (8) hours of instruction, minimum
Completion of a national exam must be marked and returned prior to the completion of the clinic
Minimum age to participate in the Level I clinic is 12 years old on or before December 31 of the current season

Level II

To further enhance the training and skills of the minor hockey official.
Must be a minimum of 16 years old as of December 31 of the current season
Must attend all sessions of the Level II clinic, a minimum eight (8) hours in duration, and obtain a minimum of 70% on a written national exam to be marked and returned prior to the completion of the clinic
Must pass a practical, on-ice evaluation, performed by a qualified Branch Hockey Canada Officiating Program supervisor.

PCAHA Needs Bantam Rep League Manger

League Managers are the people responsible for day-to-day operation of the PCAHA’s Minor Hockey leagues under the direction of the Managing Directors. Their duties are as follows:

Duties:1.) Act as a communications and resource person for the Coaches and Managers of the teams in their league.
2.) Maintain league standings
3.) Maintain team and individual penalty records.
4.) Issue exhibition game numbers.
5.) Issue tournament permission numbers.
6.) Supervise playoffs
7.) Report to the Managing Director on all matters of concern.

In general, this position requires people skills, responsibility, and attention to detail. An extensive background in hockey organization is not a prerequisite and suitable training will be provided.
